How To Write An Article To Increase Website Traffic, Kick Off A Viral Marketing Campaign And Increase The Number Of Websites Linking To You

Submitted By: Timothy Wright

If you write an article correctly, you will be able to increase the number of visitors to your site, the number of websites linking to your site, and will be able to ignite one of the web’s most cost effective and potent viral marketing strategies currently available.
Those are some pretty good benefits of writing articles, aren’t they?
And, as always, time is of the essence – so let’s dive right in.

First of all, if you don’t feel you’re up to writing your own articles, you can hire a ghostwriter from a service provider such as elance.com. Most articles cost between $5-$10, and if you use a service like elance, you can set your own terms and budget.
Ok, so everyone who’s still reading this article wants to know how to write a great article themselves in order to claim the benefits we listed above, right?
Perfect.

Let’s look into what makes a good article.
Format
People can’t read as much or for as long on the internet as they can when they are reading regular print.
With that in mind, keep your article relatively short, between 500-700 words has been found to be the most effective.

If the article is too short, you may not cover your topic in enough depth and leave the readers a little disappointed. If the article is too long, you risk losing their attention halfway through the article, as they realize that they see the staggering pile of paragraphs left.
Be sure to break up your article to make it scannable (easy to read), varying your sentence and paragraph lengths to keep the article looking interesting. Nothing is more boring to internet users than big huge blocks of text.

Keep things on the short side, getting right to the point as quickly as you can.
Be sure to leave a blank space between each paragraph. You want your article to be as easy on the eyes as possible, and one of the ways to do that is by the amount of white space that you have.

A few other things to keep in mind that affect the readability of your article include: the font size, the font style (make sure it’s simple), the html styles used such as bolding, italics, underlining, the use of bulleted lists and so on (if html article submission is possible).
The Parts that Go Into Making a Great Article
In order to write a fantastic article, you need the following sections:

1) A Headline
A headline should grab the reader’s attention and get them interested in reading the article. You need to tell them what they’ll get out of reading your article by listing some of the benefits that will come from reading your article.

2) Introduction
An introduction needs to get the readers interested enough to read the whole article – that’s the only way that they’ll ever get to the end of your article and see the link to your website at the bottom of the page.

3) Body
This is the content of your article. Make sure you use a fairly conversational writing style, getting right to the point with clarity. Avoid the use of jargon (terms that your audience may be unfamiliar with).
Edit, edit, edit. Then use the spellchecker. Then edit some more. Webmasters are looking for professional articles to post on their website, and basic spelling mistakes don’t present a very professional image.
Don’t write an advertisement and call it an article. If your article is seen as being just an advertisement, it will probably be ignored by most webmasters. Your goal is to provide some sort of value to the reader through your article, while subtly promoting your website – which may only take the form of a link at the end of your article.

4) Closing
The closing section wraps up the entire article, summarizing what you have talked about, re-mentioning some of the benefits associated with following or reading your article, and having some sort of call to action.
Tell them to visit your website, check out product X, or something along those lines.

5) Resource Box
This is where you need to get the reader excited. Offer them something free – a free e-course, other articles, a free sample of your product – something to get them to go to your website.
Now that you know how to write an amazing article that could help kick off an incredible viral marketing, all you have to do is market the article by adding it to sites such as

How To Incease Website Traffic Without Breaking The Bank

Submitted By: Jon Roussel

Internet marketers often struggle with how to increase website traffic. Most internet marketers do not want to wait to increase website traffic.

To increase your website traffic you will need to provide your visitors with good, useful information, whether you are trying to sell them something or simply entertain them.

One effective method to increase website traffic is by having a search engine discover your website link on another website, versus submitting your link manually. This is because search engines like to see that other websites link to yours, and especially websites that are similar to yours (talks about the same thing).

Here are seventeen online and offline methods that will help you increase website traffic.

1. Offer free, original, and quality content on your site. This is, by far, the single most traffic-generating activity you can take part in.
* Make sure the content is helpful to your visitors. Provide your visitors the information they need to achieve their goal or solve their problem.
* Create a fresh piece of content every two days if you can, or at least once a week.
* Do not use content generators.

2. Focus your content on keywords related to your topic.

3. Start a newsletter for your web site. When people read each issue they'll be reminded to revisit your web site. Submit it to all the free e-zine directories on the internet.

4. Submit original articles to e-zines, web sites and magazines that accept article submissions. Include your business information and web address in a resource box. This is a great way to increase website traffic.

5. Start a blog. Post original content and articles at least twice a week and ping your blog when you post to it.

6. Give away an electronic freebie (like an eBook) with your ad on it. Allow your visitors to also give the freebie away.

7. Exchange links with other web sites that are closely related to the subject of your web site.
8. Participate in forums. Post answers to other people's questions, ask questions and post appropriate information. Include your signature file containing your website's URL at the end of all your postings.

9. Start your own online discussion community.

10. Hold free online classes or seminars. You will become known as an expert on the topic.

11. Get some vinyl decals or bumper stickers created and turn your car into a moving advertisement for your web site.

12. Use word of mouth. Tell everyone you know about your website, give out business cards to passers-by in the street, and so on.

13. Give visitors a free entry into a contest or sweepstakes.

14. Let visitors download free software such as freeware, shareware, demos etc.

15. Offer free online services or utilities from your website.

16. Give free consulting to people who visit your web site.

17. Put key words and phrases in bold or italics,

With consistent effort and some ingenuity, you can increase website traffic without breaking the bank.

Website Traffic Generation…7 Great Ways To Increase Your Web Site Traffic

Submitted By: Terry Till

We all know that the secret to success on the Internet is getting your website noticed and producing massive amounts of unique traffic. Even better still is producing this traffic on a consistent basis and for free. So how do we go about this task and what is the magic formula that will do this for us on a constant and ongoing basis.

Here are my 7 tips that will certainly in crease your website traffic flow and also increase your websites revenue potential.

1) If you think logically about the internet there are millions of websites and pages available and so you have very little chance of getting significant amounts of traffic if you only have one web page online, so in order to take the first step to gaining more traffic you must produce more websites and more web pages on subjects that are of interest to the general internet viewing public.

2) Having decided to produce more websites and web pages it is of the utmost importance that you research your subjects and look for the niche areas of interest that give you a better than fighting chance of getting your websites listed in the top few listings of the major search engines, These listing are the key to where your free traffic will come from.

3) “Content is king” and so always aim to provide fresh content that is of interest to your visitors and of even more importance ensure that the contents you provide is regularly updated, certainly on a weekly basis or better still on a daily basis.

4) Make sure that your web pages are keyword rich regarding the subject matter that you are aiming to attract your potential visitors. Analyse your web pages and ensure that your pages have a keyword density of around the 5 to 10 percent mark.

5) Do not populate your web pages with too many advertising or affiliate banners links etc as this will destroy the image of your web page as a truly informative page and give the impression of just an advertising billboard, which will certainly turn off a lot of your visitors.

6) If you are trying to monetize your web pages with adsense or some similar program experiment with the placing of such adverts. Top centre just below the header and before your body text is usually the optimum position.

7) If you produce different websites and web pages track the activity each one produces and then try to produce further sites that mirror to some degree the most successful sites, certainly this will lead to your optimum success online.

I hope that these tips will be of help to you and your online success.

Build Links, Increase Page Rank, Increase Traffic

Submitted By: David Fishman
Search Engines in the last couple of years are giving more weight to one way links with a similar theme, these links are a vote of trust and confidence for your website, they are so important that they help your site in the rankings of search engines. One search engine in particular uses link popularity, that search engine is Google. When you improve your link popularity it will eventually move your site up in the serps, this is the goals of every webmaster.
Incoming links are votes to your website; more links does not mean you are the most popular, a combination of links and quality links are considered very important. Think of it this way, if you have 1000 poor links pointing to your site compared to 100 quality links they 100 links are more important to have
Search Engines are changing their algorithms all the time and they are becoming very advanced, now they are able to detect natural and purchased links. Link popularity is very important to most major search engines, so when conducting your link marketing campaign try to concentrate 95% of your time on this.
Before you start your link campaign make sure your site is a quality site with good content. A Link exchange is a great way to market your website in a very cost effective manner.
Inbound links are important because search engines see them as being indicative to quality. To build links for you website it is important to list your site with directories, and write articles, by using these methods you will increase link popularity to your site.
Getting one way links to point to your site is gold, but you need to make sure that the links that point to your site are quality links. If you can get one way links and quality links pointing to your site this will help your link popularity and move your site up in the serps.
However, filling your website with content may not be enough to increase your web traffic. Furthermore, as your content grows, you will be viewed as the expert in your field. Having lots of useful content on your web site such as informative articles, online tools, facts and just good content will make other webmasters want to link up to your site, by linking to your site this will create more traffic plus help you link popularity.
Valuable one way links back to your site Targeted traffic to your website from the directory In most cases you choose the anchor text for your link Human edited directories are great place to place your link, these directories have some editorial standards and are great for advertising.
If you are have link on website with high PageRank (PR4+), you will benefit from it and your ranking will boost. You can get the page rank of your site by going to sites online that look it up for you or by downloaded the Google toolbar. The Google toolbar is used to show you page rank of websites, the page rank is calculated by many factors but one of the most important factors is inbound one way links.
Surprisingly, writing articles on your topic can lead you to a wealth of link popularity. The more webmasters that write articles the more links you will have pointing to your website.

Sending Traffic To Your List Building Page. Part Two: Getting Blog Traffic

Submitted By: Tellman H. Knudson
We're back again to talk to you about more ways to get traffic to your blog, which will in turn send more traffic to your list building or squeeze page. Last time, we talked about setting up and adding content to your blog. This time, let's discuss other ways of getting traffic.
Natural search or what they term "organic" search traffic is great, but it takes a while to build up. But there are other search engines you may not be aware of. They're specifically geared toward searching for blogs. One of the oldest is Technorati at http://technorati.com If you have a blog and haven't "claimed" it at Technorati, it's probably a good thing to do. Your site will be indexed and ranked, and you could pick up an audience, too. The more people who like your blog the higher it will rise in the rankings.
There are other less "interactive" blog searches, too, like www.Blogsearch.Google.com or IceRocket, but there are many more. List your blog with as many as possible.
But the interactive sites are very popular right now. I'm sure you've heard of MySpace and YouTube, or you've been hiding in a closet somewhere. These sites bring traffic, but there are hundreds of sites that will have the same effect, if you get involved in what's called "Web 2.0."
StumbleUpon: When you write a post, you can "StumbleUpon" it. Give each of your pages a StumbleUpon vote and watch your traffic soar. To get to that page, rather than just the first page of your blog, you'll need to click on the post's title (if you're using WordPress) or click on a link that says "permalink." That will take you to a page with the precise post number included. StumbleUpon those each time you post.
SpicyPage: This is somewhat like MySpace in that you'll have people asking to be your "friend," or you can find friends of your own. SpicyPage is different than Digg or StumbleUpon in that you can include not just your blog postings in your profile, but your web sites as well. Make a lot of friends, get lots of votes for your site, and your traffic will climb.
Digg: Digg was created mainly to mark news stories for its members--news stories of interest. Well, when you post to your blog, that's news right? Unless you've posted nothing but a picture or silly nonsense or random musings, Digg will accept your vote for other people to see what you've voted on. Be sure that your post is an article, though, or your page might be "buried." You don't want that.
Most of these sites work the same way or similarly to the sites above. Others include Furl, Reddit, and RawSugar, but there are hundreds. Sign up for as many as you can, and each day enter your posts into as many sites as you can. The more you enter, the more your traffic you'll get to your blog.
One more way to get traffic to your blog would be:
Wikipedia: This online, user-generated encyclopedia is an incredible source of incoming traffic, if you can meet the editors' requirements. At the bottom of every post is a section called "Other sources," and this is where you'd enter the link to your blog. Just be sure that you're providing quality information in that category and that your site isn't commercial.
If you have a non-commercial blog, as with my own at ADHDWebsites.com, where I do nothing but talk about ways to control ADD and ADHD, then you might consider adding your link to Wikipedia. Just be sure to follow the guidelines or your link will be edited out, almost before it takes hold.
All of these sources will bring tons of traffic to your site. They take some time to set up, but many of them have toolbars or buttons you can put right on your browser to make submitting easy for you. The whole thing is to be consistent. Add good information to your blog, and then be sure to favor your posts every time you make them in as many places as you can, and you'll be amazed at the traffic you get. For even more places to submit, go to http://www.go2web20.net
Next time, let's discuss another way to get traffic to your list building pages... writing articles.

Getting Blog Links

Submitted By: Chris McElroy AKA NameCritic [See Author’s Biography]
A lot of time is spent by bloggers trying to get other blogs to link to them. A lot of traffic can be gained by doing this with blogs that are both related to your topic and blogs that have a lot of readers.
This can sometimes be very difficult for new bloggers because they do not yet have enough readers or page rank to interest the bigger blogs.
Talk to other bloggers who are in the same position as you right now and develop a lasting relationship. You link to them, they link to you and as both of your blogs grow those links will pay off for you.
Many people find a blog they like, then will take suggestions from that blog about other blogs they might like. So someone goes to a blog you have traded links with and likes them, then they follow your link and if your content is good, they add you to their reading list. The same happens in reverse for the one you link back to.
Sooner than you think both of your blogs will become ones that a circle of people read. The more blogs you do this with, the more your circle will eventually grow.
Don’t be too concerned with page rank. Many of the established blogs with good page rank are not going to link to you until you build up your readership at least a little. There is a reason for this and it isn’t arrogance, though it may feel that way at times.
The reason is that many people start blogs, but few people actually become bloggers. Blogging daily takes a commitment that many are not willing to make. The established blogs might link to you regardless of page rank and traffic issues if they see you are committed to writing your blog and becoming a blogger.
They don’t want to link to someone’s blog that may or may not be around next month. It is a disservice to their readers and a hassle to remove your link later or check and see if you are actually still blogging. They do not have the time to hold your hand on it.
If they check out your blog and you have been posting to it every day for quite awhile, say 6 months at least, then they might give you a helping hand and welcome you to the blogosphere.
Put it into your schedule to make a post every single day, even if it has to be a short one due to lack of time. When there is a time you know you will not be able to post for a few days, make a post for each of those days and if you are using wordpress you can timestamp the posts so that each one appears on the scheduled day. That is one way to keep your blog fresh for your readers every day.
Another tip is, as we post to our blogs daily, there are times when you have two or three things you want to blog, but if you are finding it hard to post daily, timestamp the second or third post for other days rather than posting them right now unless it is something time sensitive. Try to stay two or three days ahead so that if you miss a day, it won’t hurt you.
If you are using blogger or other blogging software that doesn’t have the timestamp feature, save them as drafts, then log in when you have little time and post your draft. If you have time to blog a post, then leave the draft there until you need it.
Don’t let yourself get frustrated if everyone doesn’t want to link to you right away. If you are blogging good content, you may find they are linking to you before you even ask!

Don’t Be A Bump On A Blog! How To Effectively Use A Blog To Increase Website Traffic

By: Anton Cheranev
Almost anyone can create a website these days, but only a select few will be able to maintain enough traffic for their site to be considered successful. Maintaining and increasing traffic to your website may not be a priority if you only have your website for personal purposes. If you run your business through your website however, increasing traffic can mean a world of difference. Chances are if you are on a tight budget, advertising is not a great option for you. There are ways to advertise your website without paying any fees. One great way to get your website address out there is through a blog. There are several ways to use a blog to increase website traffic. Take a look below to get a few ideas that will help you get started.
Before you begin, you will need to decide whether you want to create your own blog, or utilize the blogs of others for your task. There are advantages to both methods. Creating your own blog can be a lot of fun, but it also takes a little time. There are several great websites that offer free blogs to those who choose to create their own. The free websites often have extremely simple steps to use that will help you get your blog rolling right away, allowing even those with limited computer skills to create a blog in less than an hour. You may want to read on to see which methods of blog use you want to try before determining whether you want your own blog or not.
One of the best ways to increase traffic to your website using a blog is by using search terms. This can be done in several ways; however you probably will want to create your own blog for these. To utilize search terms, you need to post them on your blog or throughout articles on your blog. For example, if your website is about fishing and you want to target fishermen, then you can post articles containing fishing terms on your blog. You can even simply post lists of fishing terms on your blog as well. When fishermen get online and do searches for these terms, chances are they will be led to a link to your blog. At that point, you will need to also post many links to your fishing website. This will possibly draw the fishermen in and get them to click on the link to your website. When using the search engine approach, you will need to find software that allows you to see exactly which search engines are most popular. Then you can cater your search engine lists and articles to fit the most popular words. Blogs are perfect for search engine terms and articles because you can literally post anything you want on a blog without it being inappropriate. Even professional websites use this approach and it has been found to be one of the most effective out there. Not to mention, it is free for you to utilize.
Another way to use a blog to increase traffic to your website is simply by posting. This can be done on other blogs that you read as well. In the comments area, you can post a response to blogs you read that includes your website link. This should only be done when you are writing a legitimate comment however. Otherwise, if you simply use the comment line for your personal ad space, you will deter many people from clicking on your link due to it being considered rude. Just read as many blogs a day as you can, make legitimate comments, and include your website link in your signature. This is a fast way to get an increase in traffic.
No matter if you want to use your own blog or someone else’s blog to help you increase traffic to your website, blogs are effective in doing so. You can use blogs at no cost and create pathways for new traffic that you otherwise would never be able to reach and attract. As you probably know, the success of your website depends largely on the amount of traffic it receives. Therefore, focusing on the amount of traffic you should attract is an important aspect of running your website. Use these tips to help you easily use blogs to increase your website traffic.

Essential Steps To Productive Blogging In 2008 And Beyond

Blogs are now one of the most popular ways to communicate on internet. There are many reasons to create a blog. It can be a journal, it can be a platform, and it can be a guide. However, the basic difference between a website and a blog is that blogs are the websites where you can advertise but cannot sale anything directly. The thing you are selling in a blog is word.
There are many strategies to make your blog popular. The very first thing you should look for is the subject of the blog. If you are not confident enough on the subject you are creating the blog on, you cannot make it interesting. So, be clear about the matter you are writing on. Try to be informative, but always write in a casual tone. You are not writing an article, but you are telling something to your reader to grow her/his interest. You are not writing a story, neither a poem, but you are writing a copy to sale. There should be points that attract the reader to explore the matter.
You need a host to promote your blog. Be sure about the reason you are creating the blog. There are hosts like Google who can prop up your blog. Before that, however, you should be sure about the purpose of your blog. Not only Google, there are many other popular sites who have their own blogs and who host for outsiders as well. To grow up your knowledge about the matter, you can always visit the popular blog sites.
It does not matter, how often you publish new post in your blog, but you should be sure about the readability. If your posts are not easy to read, no one will access them and people will dump them in one corner. So, you should always maintain the quality of your writing.
Do not mess up one blog with many topics. You should concentrate on one thing for one blog. If you have a business to promote, you should not confuse your customer. So, consistency is a very important point to make a blog popular.
Make sure that you have provision for the viewer to comment on your posts. Never neglect any comment on your blog, try to prolong the dialogue with the visitor as much as you can. This is a simple trick to keep people in your blog for a long time. It also helps to increase the popularity of your blog. As much you will interact, you will get new visitors. So invite comment on your blog.
A productive blog should be interesting as well as easy to read. If you want to sale your blog you should know about SEO or search engine optimization. If you are done with your blog completely, you should try to optimize your blog.
Try to increase the trafficking from the search engine. Pick up the most important words or group of words from your blog and highlight them as the key words for your blog. If you can create popular key words, you will get high traffic for your blog. High traffic, in turn, is always directly proportional to the output that you generate from the blogs.

4-Step Plan To Improve Your Website Traffic

By: Nigel Robinson

If you have seen the Kevin Costner movie "Field of Dreams" you would think that having designed and built your website, all you have to do is to sit back and watch the visitors arrive in their droves. But of course, it's not that easy is it? However, if you follow this four-step plan you will begin to see those visitors arrive, if not in spectacular numbers:
1. Announcing your website’s presence

With the majority of traffic being generated through the top search engines (Google, Yahoo, AOL, MNS etc.) the starting point is to let them know that your website exists. This is achieved by submitting a request through their "Add/Submit URL" facilities. You can do this individually or you could think about using software to submit a batch request to most of the search engines that now exist. It you look for "search engine submission software” you will find an abundance of free and paid-for services, but I would advise against parting with your hard-earned cash at this stage.

2. Achieving a high a search engine ranking

You will probably already understand the concept that when that the search engines deliver results from your key word entry, the websites are ranked according to both the relevance and popularity. So let’s examine what is meant by these terms:
Relevance - you will read a lot about making sure your website contains material that intrinsically carries value. If for instance, your website is about tropical fish, then make sure it is packed with facts about the subject and don't be shy about it. Make sure your website content carries the key words that the tropical fish fraternity will search for. If not, you can be sure your website will be consigned to appear on page13,563 of the search results. You guessed it, no one will ever see your masterpiece!
Popularity - the principal way in which the Search Engines determine the level of a website’s popularity is to take into consideration the number and quality of links from other websites. The ranking algorithms used by the Search Engines are closely guarded secrets, but his is widely recognized that popularity is determined as follows:
- by the absolute numbers of links;
- they are not weighted according to the ranking or popularity of the website they are coming from;
- whether the link itself is from a website in a related sector (i.e. an aquarium wholesaler linking to a tropical fish retailer).

3. Generating Direct Traffic

This is probably the most difficult and time-consuming strategy to generate visitors. So is it worth it? I would definitely recommend it if you are offering a niche product or service or you're trying to generate leads in your local market. You can do this in a variety of ways. For instance:
-by distributing ‘fliers’
-testing the market with highly targeted advertisements
-taking every opportunity to include your website's address on e-mail, letter headed paper etc
-by word of mouth

4. “Pay-Per-Click” advertising

More and more businesses are turning to sponsored links as a means of guaranteeing prominence in the Search Engines. Google’s Adwords programme is by far the market leader in pay-per-click advertising and generates millions of dollars in revenue every day. However, unless you have particularly ‘deep pockets’, you should make sure you don't rely exclusively on pay-per-click traffic to your website and you should try to organically improve your visibility in the free search engine results as well.
